What we do

East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme covers the whole of the East Midlands.

Our volunteer doctors turn out at all hours, in all weather, 365 days a year, and respond to an average of 4 life-threatening emergencies a day.

Our intervention saves lives, and that’s why we do what we do.

Our testimonials page contains comments from just some of those we have helped.

Who we are

Our volunteer doctors are drawn from a variety of backgrounds including Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Anaesthetics and Intensive Care.  They all bring advanced specialist skills to the roadside to assist our colleagues from the ambulance service.

All our doctors will have completed several years of post-graduate training in their hospital or GP work, before undertaking additional voluntary pre-hospital training to enable them to respond for EMICS.  Many also work for the regional air-ambulance services as doctors, or serve as medical advisers to the ambulance service.
